this phrase isn't real.
look. i try so hard to not be the um actually guy. i dont care. the world goes on. but this one annoys me. nowhere in the oregon trail game does the phrase "you have died of dysentery" EVER appear. you know why? because YOU are not in the game! you as the player take control of a family, whose names you get to put in yourself. YOU cannot die. only members of your family. so it could say "john has died of dysentery". or, if you want to be clever, "you has died of dysentery".
i was at a gaming event recently, and I saw this meme EVERYWHERE. and see, I wouldn't mind if people knew it was a meme. memes dont reflect reality. it can be a meme. but my hill to die on. it does not exist for real in the original game.
and i would know. i got personal stakes. you can trust me.
