too much Rag Dolly
updating my rag dolly shrine with another mini essay on the show, and its getting to the point where it might be soo long I need to split it off into multiple pages? it's a little cumbersome at the moment since my font is so damn big. i also have at least three more essays in me about the show
General d as satire of american politics and the very specific references that make him more than just "big bad saturday morning cartoon villain military flavored" but how his lines tie back into specific quotes in Mass for the Dead. the idea of a general whose war will only be won when everyone is dead. the fact that the smokehouse furnace used to be called "the flames of war" which were fed by the bodies of those who die for the cause. purposefull stuff!
the dolls responding to general d's authority by turning his words into jokes. representing both how to destroy authoritarian and fascist ideals by refusing to even take them seriously in the first place, and how to destroy depression by understanding the feelings as not logical and breaking the thought spiral with absurdity.
more likley to be another page, a breakdown of Gibson's hate for Broadway and a collection of resources on why i dislike Broadway myself
i had to move my real-life rag dolly notes into a new binder the other day btw. its a 3-ring binder with a 2-inch side and it still barely fits the three scripts and four years of scribblings. not to mention i should probably download the stuff i have written here to have a real life future reference, and i still want to make a physical collection of my most relevant newspaper clippings
